Newfound Lake keeps Bristol honest about water — it's the clearest thing for miles, and the river out of it runs down past Central Square on its way to the Pemigewasset. We tend the town's lawns in something like the same spirit: mowing, trimming and edging through the season, and minding the irrigation that carries grass through a dry Grafton County August. A lawn watered evenly and cut at the right height doesn't need much else to look right. Summer here is busy, brief and beautiful, and the yards ought to match it. We keep them keeping up.
