About Grumps Landscape Center, INC

In late April, when the frost finally lets go of the Merrimack valley and the ground around Bow turns dark and workable again, the yard fills with pickup trucks. Grumps Landscape Center is a bulk landscape supply yard — mulch and bark, topsoil and compost blends, decorative stone, sand and gravel — the raw weight of a whole season, loaded by the scoop. There is a quiet pleasure in the arithmetic of it: cubic yards figured against a bed you sketched on the back of an envelope, then that number arriving on a delivery truck or riding home curbside in the bed of your own. What follows is the part that lasts, and lasts visibly — mulch laid dark against new green, a stone border squared true to the walk, fresh gravel giving back its clean crunch under the hemlocks. Bow and the towns around it get built a load at a time.
