Big Island Pond takes up a good corner of Atkinson, and life around it runs hard in two directions — docks and mowers in July, plows and shovels in January. The pond throws its own weather at the shore lots, and the wind keeps rearranging snow long after it has quit falling, so this is rarely a one-and-done sort of place.
