The Moat Mountains stand over Albany, and when a nor'easter piles in from the coast, their ridgelines vanish into gray long before the first flakes reach the valley floor. Moat Mountain Maintenance provides snow removal beneath those peaks, and the work begins in the dark, headlights tunneling through falling snow on roads that thread between the pines. Mountain driveways are their own puzzle, steep, curving and shaded so that ice lingers into spring, and clearing them well means shoving snow well back from the edges so the next storm has somewhere to land. Each drive is cleared to blacktop, each walk opened to the door step. When dawn finally colors the Moats pink above a valley gone silent with new snow, Albany can get where it needs to go.
