Grass Masters

About Grass Masters

By the middle of July the heat stands straight up off the pavement in York, and the shadow of the elevator is the only cool thing on the block. Grass Masters mows right through it, trimming, edging and blowing the walks clean while the cicadas keep time in the boulevard trees. Summer lawns in York County have to be read — how high to set the deck, when to let a yard grow a little, where the sun bakes and where the shade holds. Getting that right is most of the craft, and the reward is turf that stays green while the field across the road goes tassel-brown. Then it's a drink of water, a minute in the truck, and on to the next one.
