Down along the Elkhorn River bottom outside West Point, the cottonwoods stand bare and rimed with frost most winter mornings, and it's out past that treeline where KS Excavating LLC often starts its snow routes, working farmstead lanes and larger commercial lots before turning back toward town. Heavier equipment means the big stretches, a co-op yard, a long shared drive, get cleared in wide, even passes rather than piecemeal. The river itself runs low and slow this time of year, more ice shelf than current, and the cold settles into the bottomland long after it's burned off the open fields above. A lot plowed end to end, snow pushed back into tidy windrows instead of scattered piles, has its own kind of order to it. It's the same instinct driving the rest of the work, just scaled up: get the ground back to something everyone can use.
