Wayne wakes up slow on a snowy morning, Wayne State College quiet under its blanket of white, Main Street's brick storefronts holding their shape under drifts before the plows come through. Gleamin works the residential streets and lots around town, and there's something almost literal in the name: a driveway scraped down to bare concrete does gleam, wet and dark, under the first sun after a storm. Logan Creek runs low and half-frozen at the edge of town this time of year, willows bent white along its banks. Clearing a walkway or a lot here means students and neighbors alike get where they're going without a slip or a second thought. It's a small trade, cold hands for open ground, but a fair one, repeated street by street until the whole town moves again.
