Out on a Limb Tree Service

About Out on a Limb Tree Service

In January the wind crosses the open farmland around Waterloo with nothing to slow it, and by morning it has carved the snow into long ridges against fences and garage doors. Out on a Limb Tree Service clears snow in the village, often while the streetlights are still burning and the bare cottonwoods by the Elkhorn are only dark shapes against the sky. The name speaks of branches, but on these mornings the work is all about getting people out the door. A drive opened before sunrise, its edges squared and its end free of the ridge the street plow left behind: that is the small victory. Then the sky goes pink over the river bottom and the day can begin.
