Drive the newer streets south of Giles Road in the evening and the young trees staked in each front yard are still bare enough to show every branch outlined in a fresh coat, the retention ponds nearby skimmed over with a first skin of ice. Priority Landscape Construction works these newer subdivisions, plowing driveways still edged in raw sod and construction dirt from the summer's building season, and shoveling walks that haven't seen more than a winter or two yet. The rolling ground west of the recreation area catches drifting snow differently than the flatter streets closer to Omaha, piling it against north-facing garages while the south sides stay bare by midafternoon. The crew clears cul-de-sacs and the shared drives around new construction, working late into the evening when a second storm follows close behind the first. Out on the edge of the metro, the work follows the houses as fast as the subdivisions grow, one new driveway at a time.
