Heartland Lawns

About Heartland Lawns

August in the Chalco Hills is all horizon: prairie grass gone tawny, cicadas loud in the shelterbelts, thunderheads stacking up somewhere west of Wehrspann by late afternoon. Heartland Lawns cuts through the hottest part of that season the way you have to out here — early, high, and often enough that the turf is never asked to give up more than a third of its blade. Edges along the drive and the walk get their own pass, and the trimmer finishes the fence line where the pasture grass tries to lean back in. When the heat finally breaks in September the lawns come back thick, and the difference between the ones that were tended and the ones that were not is plain from the road. Steady care, week on week, is the plain heart of it.
