About Landis Engine Co

Before the sun clears the Iowa bank of the river, the trailer is hitched and the engines are warming in the dark, breath and exhaust going up together. Landis Engine Co runs its lawn care days on that early start — mowing while the dew is still on, trimming close around trees and posts, edging the drive so the concrete has a clean shoulder again. Machines that are looked after cut cleaner, and a blade with a true edge leaves grass that stands back up instead of tearing. Nebraska City summers ask a lot of equipment and of anyone running it, which is why the route is worked the same careful way every week. Come the end of the season, the cleanups take the yards down to bare, tidy ground.
