The first frost in McCook always finds the low ground first, silver in the grass down at Barnett Park while the tableland above is still dry and warm at midday. k-lawn watches for that turn. Through the growing months the work is mowing on a steady route, trimming close along walks and fence lines, and edging the drive so the concrete keeps its shape against the turf instead of disappearing under it. Autumn shifts the job to hauling off what falls, so the lawn goes under the first hard freeze open and clean rather than matted. Then spring comes back up out of the Republican valley, the grass wakes early one warm week, and the route begins again.
