JR's Arborcare

About JR's Arborcare

After an ice storm moves through central Nebraska, the cottonwoods and elms around Kearney carry a glassy coat that can crack a limb under its own weight, and that's when JR's Arborcare clears what the ice brings down along with the snow underneath it. The crew knows the old shade trees ringing Yanney Heritage Park and the walks across the UNK campus, and treats a fallen branch on a sidewalk the same as a drift blocking a driveway — something to clear before someone slips or a car gets stuck. Mornings start dark, headlamps picking out ice on brick paths and frozen mulch beds, breath showing in the cold coming off the Platte valley. Leaving a walkway bare and dry under trees still dripping meltwater by noon is the clean line that makes a block look tended again. By dusk, with the wind picking up out of the west across the flat fields, the routes are finished and the trucks head back toward the yard.
