Nelson Tree Service

About Nelson Tree Service

Holmesville is barely a bend in the road in Gage County, a scatter of houses and a crossroads where bur oak groves along the Blue River bottoms still shelter a few old farmsteads from the wind. Nelson Tree Service spends most of the year up in those same trees, and come winter the crew trades saws for plow blades, clearing the gravel lanes that wind between the timber and the open fields. There isn't much traffic out this way, but the mail carrier and the propane truck still need a lane wide enough to pass, and a farmstead cut off by a drift can wait days without one. The crew knows which lanes catch the worst of it — the ones running crosswise to the wind, tucked behind a treeline that funnels snow instead of stopping it. Out here, a plowed half-mile of gravel means as much as a cleared street would in a bigger town.
