About Snell Services

Snell Services keeps to Gering's residential streets mostly — the older blocks north of downtown where driveways are narrow and walks run close to the curb, easy to miss with a big blade and easy to do right with a small one. Dusk comes early here in winter, porch lights coming on one by one along quiet blocks while this crew finishes its last pass of the day, after the main roads have already had their first plow. It's patient work: a walk shoveled down to the concrete rather than just knocked back to an inch of pack, a step de-iced before someone's boot finds it slick. The North Platte valley holds damp cold close to the ground on these shaded streets, so ice forms fast even on walks that got full sun all afternoon. Snell's trucks run these same blocks storm after storm, the kind of coverage a smaller crew can give a smaller stretch of town.
