About Matt's Lawn Services

Late in the day the ditch water south of Gering goes the color of weak tea, and the light comes in so low and level that every blade of grass throws its own small shadow. That hour is unforgiving, which is exactly why Matt's Lawn Services likes finishing in it — a crooked edge or a missed strip has nowhere to hide when the sun is coming in sideways off the valley. Grass cutting, edging along drives and walks, trimming the corners a mower can't reach: the whole list is short, and the whole list gets done. Gering yards run generous out here, and there is a plain pleasure in walking one at dusk and finding nothing left to fix. Then the trailer gate goes up and the town settles into a Mountain Time evening that lasts and lasts.
