From the air, the farm ground west of Cozad shows itself in perfect circles, the tracks of center-pivot irrigation lines that water these same fields all summer and lie flat and white by the time real cold sets into the Platte valley. AAA Sprinklers spends the growing season keeping those pivots running and the cold months keeping the lanes between them open, plowing gravel roads out to the farmsteads scattered across Dawson County. A Cozad snowfall out here tends to run lighter and drier than the wetter systems farther east, but the open ground gives the wind nothing to catch on, so a cleared lane can drift shut again before lunch. The crew tends those same rural roads and driveways for the families it services every summer, trading a sprinkler gauge for a plow blade once the ground freezes solid. Once the circles start turning again each spring, every lane out there has been scraped clear more times than anyone bothered to count.
