River Valley Services.

About River Valley Services.

From the bridge on the edge of Cambridge, the Republican River valley opens up in both directions, bottomland fields stretching flat toward the bluffs that rise gradually into the tableland above. River Valley Services works that whole stretch, from the low fields near the water up to the higher farm ground where the wind has more room to work. The bottomland holds cold air like a bowl, so the properties down near the river often need a second pass well after the higher ground has cleared for good. Evening is when the valley shows its shape best, the sun dropping behind the bluffs while the river bottom stays lit a little longer, plowed driveways catching that last low light before dark closes over the fields. It's a town measured in elevation as much as distance, and the routes here rise and fall right along with the valley itself.
