North of Burwell, the Sandhills roll up into ridges above the Calamus, grass-covered dunes that hold their shape under snow the same way they do under summer wind. Prairie Ridge Land & Tree works the properties tucked into that ridge country, where a driveway might run along the base of a dune for a hundred yards before it ever reaches a house. The reservoir itself locks up solid most winters, a flat white plain below hills that stay rounded and soft-looking even buried in snow. Clearing out here means working with the land's own drainage — snow slides off the ridges into the low ground between them, so the crew clears those pockets last, after gravity's already done some of the job. By midday, with the sun flat and bright over the whole rolling spread, the ranch driveways below the ridges sit open all the way down to the reservoir road.
