April in Bellevue is a slow reveal — brown turf giving way in patches, bluegrass and fescue waking at their own separate pace, buds thickening over the Papillion Creek greenway. Husker Horticulture reads a lawn as a living thing with a spring, a summer and a long tired August to get through. The year opens with cleanup: matted leaves off, winter debris cleared, the first cut taken a touch high. Then mowing, edging and trimming on a weekly turn, with aeration and overseeding once the calendar and the soil agree with each other. Yards throughout Bellevue and on out to Springfield and Gretna are on the route.
