Where Beatrice's newest streets run out and the ground is still turned raw from the last round of building, Lineweber DirtWorks spends most of the year shaping lots that will be lawns in a year or two. Winter freezes that raw ground solid and buries it under the same snow that falls on the finished streets nearby, and the company's excavators and loaders — built for moving dirt, not snow — get blades fitted on for the season instead. A town's growing seam takes different handling than its older, settled blocks: half-built driveways, unfinished curbs, equipment parked where a plow truck has to work around it. The crew handles both, pushing snow off the new streets in the morning before circling back to the older parts of town. It's heavy equipment doing careful work, right where Beatrice is still becoming itself.
