Jons Outdoor Service

About Jons Outdoor Service

Noon in July, the Gage County Courthouse sits square in the middle of Beatrice with the cicadas going in the shade trees around it and the heat coming straight up off the pavement. Jons Outdoor Service is out in it anyway, because midsummer is when a yard needs the most and asks the loudest. The work is mowing on a steady weekly turn, trimming the places a deck can't reach, edging the walks back to a clean line, and hauling away the brush and clippings so nothing is left sitting at the curb. There is a plain pleasure in coming back to a property at dusk and seeing the stripes still lying straight across it. Then the season turns, the yards fill with leaves, and the cleanup work begins again.
