Schuetze Sod

About Schuetze Sod

Bancroft keeps the memory of a poet: John G. Neihardt lived and wrote here, and his small study and prayer garden still stand at the state historic site in town. It is a fitting home for Schuetze Sod, a business whose very name is about living ground. Through the growing season Schuetze Sod provides lawn care, and when a northeast Nebraska winter sweeps over the Cuming County hills, it shifts to snow removal. A thick, even yard in June and a clear lane to the street in January are both, in their way, small verses written on the land. Neighbors read them every day, which is reason enough to get the lines right.
