Green Acres

About Green Acres

Arnold sits where the South Loup River is still young, a modest stream winding out of the grassland in western Custer County. Green Acres keeps the lawns of Arnold mowed and trimmed, a bright counterpoint to the tawny hills rolling away on every side. In late August, when the pastures go gold and the evenings turn cool, a well-kept yard works like a welcome mat for the whole block. The pride lives in the finish: straight runs, and a clean seam where grass meets gravel. Where the land is this big and the town this small, that kind of attention can be seen from a long way off.
