Ennis’ ArborCare

About Ennis’ ArborCare

Shelterbelts stand in long dark rows across the prairie around Wishek, planted to break the wind, and each one keeps a record of the last storm in the drift heaped along its lee side. Ennis’ ArborCare brings a tree-care eye to snow removal here, reading how the wind laid the snow down before cutting into it. In January the light goes violet by late afternoon, and bare branches throw thin blue shadows across driveways freshly opened to gravel and pavement. Every pass leaves a clean floor and a low, sloped bank the next gust can slide right over. It is patient winter work in a town that has learned exactly what a Dakota wind can do.
