Grasshopper Lawn Service

About Grasshopper Lawn Service

By mid-July the ditch grass along the Sheyenne is loud with hoppers, and one step down a bank sends a dozen of them clattering off into the weeds. Grasshopper Lawn Service takes its name from something that actually lives out here. Afternoons run hot and wide open in the valley, where the sky is most of the view, and the mowing carries on through it, past Rendezvous Park where the river keeps itself hidden in trees. Trimming around mailboxes and play sets, running a clean edge down the curb line until the turf stops in a straight dark seam -- small things, but they are what anyone driving by actually sees. The reward is a yard that somehow looks cooler than the day it was cut in.
