The truck works outward from town in a wide loop, clearing the longer rural driveways first while the roads are freshest, since a delay out here means a second trip later in worse conditions. In town, the same crew shifts to a tighter pattern, working the streets near the casino and lodge down toward the bridge approach one street after another. Ice on any incline leading up from the lake road gets salted before the afternoon sun has a chance to glaze it over again. Commercial entrances used by trucks headed out toward the oil patch get cleared wide enough for a full turn, not just a car's width. By the time the loop closes back at the highway, the whole stretch from town to the ranch gates behind it is passable again.
