XS Dakota

About XS Dakota

By September the prairie wind comes down over the coulees into Minot carrying the smell of cut stubble, and the light turns gold across the lawns on South Hill an hour earlier than anyone expects. XS Dakota works those hours — trimming, edging, raking the first wind-driven leaves out of the shelterbelt corners where they stack up. This ground lives on extremes: a summer that pushes grass up in a rush, then a cold that shuts it down all at once, which makes autumn aeration and overseeding less a chore than an act of faith in April. They know which yards near the Scandinavian Heritage Park side of town drain slowly and which ones bake dry by August. What they're after is simple enough — turf cut even, corners squared, walks blown clear — a yard that reads as looked-after under a sky this wide.
