West of Mandan the land opens into flat prairie, and Prairie Pros runs its plow trucks out along the straight section-line roads before turning back into town for the closer, tighter work of a residential driveway. Out on the open stretches, the challenge is wind more than depth, snow scoured off the fields and packed hard against anything that breaks the flatness, a fence line, a driveway apron, a mailbox post. In town, the same crew shifts to a slower gear, working narrow driveways and sidewalks until the route closes the loop back toward the bluffs above the river. Walkways get shoveled to bare pavement, not just packed down, and any icy low spot gets salted before it can refreeze overnight. The name fits the work: prairie distances in the morning, neighborhood precision by afternoon.
