Jamestown sits almost exactly halfway between Bismarck and Fargo on I-94, and Kepida Contracting works the frontage roads and lots that catch every trucker who peels off the interstate for fuel or a meal. Those lots take a beating in a ground blizzard — snow doesn't so much fall there as travel sideways across the open plain — so the crew plows in wide loops timed to when traffic actually needs the pavement clear, not just once at dawn. Loaders push the piles back far enough that sightlines stay open at the exits, and the aprons get a second pass once the wind has had its say. Off the interstate, the same equipment turns to residential streets and driveways across town, the scale smaller but the standard the same. By the time the wind finally lets up, the frontage lots sit bare and gritted while I-94 traffic streams past just yards away, most drivers never noticing the work it took to keep that ramp open.
