There's an obvious coincidence in a company called Cooper Snow working out of Cooperstown, and the crew doesn't mind leaning into it while it clears the driveways ringing the county courthouse square and the streets running out from Main Street toward the valley. Griggs County's seat is a small town, and Cooper Snow's routes reflect that — a compact grid of blocks where the crew can cover most of the town's driveways and walks in a single morning pass after a storm. The Sheyenne River valley just south of town cuts the only real break in an otherwise flat horizon, and cold air drops into it fast once the sun goes down, so late routes run a little slower and more careful near the valley rim. What the job actually involves is unglamorous and constant: driveways, sidewalks, the approach to the courthouse steps, cleared and re-cleared through however many systems roll through in a season. The name might raise an eyebrow, but the work is exactly what it says.
