About S & M Lawn Services

Center is a small county seat set high on the rolling ground of Oliver County, where Square Butte Creek cuts its way south and the horizon is mostly sky. By late August the prairie beyond the last street has gone gold and brittle, which makes a watered, freshly cut lawn in town look like a deliberate act — and that is exactly what S & M Lawn Services treats it as. Mowing on a schedule, trimming around the mailbox posts and the shelter trees, edging the sidewalk back to a crisp line, and hauling off the season's litter of leaves and clippings before the wind redistributes it for you. Out here the wind is the third party in every job, so the cleanup gets done properly or it gets done twice. Come evening the block sits tidy under that big open light, and the town looks like somebody is minding it.
