Snow season here means driveways and walkways up on the bluff streets as much as the low ground near the river, since both fill in fast once a real system moves through. The willows and box elders down along the water stay bare and quiet for months, holding frost long after the rest of the valley has warmed a degree or two. It's a small-town route, but it runs on the same river that built the bigger city just down the valley.
