About Lawns Gardens & More

The greenhouse glass at Lawns Gardens & More fogs over first thing on a cold State Street morning, ferns and bedding plants waiting out the winter behind panes that need scraping same as any windshield. Once the growing season winds down, the crew that spent spring potting annuals turns its attention outward, running plows and shovels through the same neighborhoods that buy their flowers every May. There's a rhythm to it — a driveway cleared here, a walkway there, the small routes that keep a residential street passable through January. The garden center itself sits quiet under snow for months, its beds and benches waiting for a thaw that won't come until well into the next season. Until then, it's shovels and blades, not trowels, that keep the crew busy.
