Prairie View Landscaping & Nursery

About Prairie View Landscaping & Nursery

Baldwin is a handful of streets set against open prairie, close enough to the grain elevator at the edge of town that the horizon is mostly sky in every direction. A nursery that spends its summers growing what a McLean County yard needs spends its winters answering to a different force entirely, wind that can pick up a foot of snow off open field and lay it across a driveway in a single gust. Prairie View plows the gravel approaches and yards it planted, working against drifts that build along fence lines and shelterbelts rather than falling evenly the way snow does in a forest. Some mornings the sky is a hard, flat blue with the wind still roaring off the stubble fields; others it's a whiteout with visibility measured in yards, not miles. Either way, the same driveway gets opened, because out here a blocked lane can mean a missed trip to Wilton or Washburn, not just an inconvenience.
