Shannon & Son's Tree Service

About Shannon & Son's Tree Service

First frost turns the fields around Yadkinville white for an hour, and then the sun comes over and takes it back. Shannon & Son's Tree Service starts the day in that hour, thermos on the tailgate, ropes coiled, a double-leader oak to bring down before the wind decides to do it messily. The work runs the whole arc, trimming limbs off a roofline, pruning young trees along a driveway so they never crowd it, removing the ones that have quit for good. Storm days rewrite the schedule and cleanup becomes the job: trunks cut to stove lengths, brush cleared out of the lane, the lawn raked so nothing is left to catch a mower blade. On a clear afternoon the Blue Ridge shows up low and blue in the west, and it is a fine thing to finish a job with that on the horizon.
