Winston Salem Lawns

About Winston Salem Lawns

An August storm comes over Winston-Salem from the west in the late afternoon, breaks hard on the brick of Old Salem, and is gone before supper — and by the weekend every yard along Salem Creek has put on two inches. Winston Salem Lawns keeps pace with that: weekly mowing, edging along walks and drives, trimming around fences and posts, blowing it all back off the concrete, and clearing the limbs and debris a Piedmont storm leaves lying in the grass. Grass here does not grow politely. It grows in surges, hot and wet, and the schedule has to answer in kind. The reward comes at evening, when the light goes long across a yard that was shaggy at breakfast and now lies flat and even, banded where the mower turned. The work covers Winston-Salem and runs south toward Midway and Wallburg.
