Turf Tacklers

About Turf Tacklers

Quarry Park holds a whole stone bowl of shade at the east edge of Winston-Salem, and on a July afternoon the rest of the city feels twenty degrees hotter than that. Turf Tacklers mows through it, tall fescue cut high in the heat so the roots keep their cool, the edge along the drive taken back to a line, the trimmer run around every post and downspout. Cicadas handle the soundtrack; the mower does the rest. When the humidity finally breaks in September the grass comes roaring back, and that's the stretch for overseeding thin spots and clearing the beds of summer's mess. A yard that looks good in August took a plan back in June.
