About O'Brien Service Company

Head south out of Wilmington toward the beaches and the road runs low over marsh and creek, where bridges give up their heat first and freeze while the asphalt on either side is only wet. O'Brien Service Company plans winter work around that habit — plowing driveways and parking areas, opening walkways and thresholds, and putting salt on the cold spots that ice ahead of everything around them. Down here a freeze is counted in hours rather than days, so the route moves fast and doubles back on the stretches that hold their chill. What matters is that the morning still works: cars out, doors reachable, nobody taking a chance on a slick step. It is a rare call in this town, and it gets answered like it isn't.
