About Smith Family Homestead

Some places out from Whiteville are not lots so much as land — a yard that runs to a fence row, a ditch bank that has to be kept, a stand of pines at the back of the field. Smith Family Homestead works at that scale: mowing open acreage, trimming along fences, posts and outbuildings, edging whatever is paved, and clearing brush and overgrowth back to a workable line. Beds and shrubs get attention too, and the limbs and clippings go out rather than piling in a corner. Cut ground on a big place changes the whole feel of it; the house sits better in its space. Out here, that is what a kept yard means.
