About W.P.E.S. LLC

There is a particular quiet at two in the morning inside a Watauga snowstorm, flakes coming down through the plow lights and not another track anywhere on the road. W.P.E.S. LLC works those hours, because a storm running all night has to be pushed more than once — a pass at midnight, another before people stir, so the load never gets ahead of the blade. Driveways, turnarounds and lots are opened, and walks and entries are shoveled and treated by hand. By breakfast the snow has stopped being a problem and gone back to being scenery on the ridges. Boone, Foscoe, Blowing Rock and the surrounding Watauga County roads.
