About John Lawns

Fog sits low in the Hominy Creek valley at first light and lets go slowly, unspooling up the coves until the ridges finally show themselves. John Lawns begins its mornings in that cool air, mowing the flat bottoms and terraced yards west of Asheville where a lawn can change grade three times between the road and the porch. Trimming handles the steep margins and stone walls; a cut border brings the drive back to a firm line. Leaf season in these mountains is long and heavy, and the cleanups run right through it. There is a plain pleasure in looking back down a Buncombe County yard and seeing every pass line up.
