Up the road toward Pearson's Falls the rhododendron closes over the trail, and in May the mountain laurel blooms like somebody lit it. Thompson's Landscaping & Stone keeps the yards below all that — mowing, edging and trimming on terraced lots where the ground steps down in shelves toward the road. Mulch goes into the beds, shrubs get shaped, and the strip along every wall is trimmed by hand where a mower can't sit. Turf gets fed and weeds get handled through the long warm Polk County summer. Come fall the leaves are cleared and carried off, and the shape of the place shows again.
