Yard Guys

About Yard Guys

Stonewall lies in the low tidewater country of Pamlico County, where the Bay River widens toward the sound and the horizon is mostly sky. Yard Guys mows and trims these waterside yards, working with soil that runs sandy and salty and grass that grows in bursts after a summer rain. The wind off the water never really quits, which makes blowing and cleanup as much of the job as the cutting. Fall drops loblolly needles across everything, and they get raked and carried off before they mat down the turf. A lawn out here reads well in late afternoon, mown in even bands with the marsh grass shifting just beyond the edge of it.
