Warr's Lawn Service

About Warr's Lawn Service

Down toward Wagram the Lumber River runs black and slow beneath the cypress, and by late afternoon the light comes in low and gold across this corner of Scotland County. Warr's Lawn Service tends to finish the day in that light, on the last lawn of the route, when a fresh cut shows every line it has. The work behind it is unglamorous and exact: mow to height, edge along the concrete, trim what the deck cannot reach, then clear the walks and the drive down to clean gray. In autumn the leaves get gathered and hauled off; through the growing season the beds get kept and the shrubs stay in bounds. Pulling away from a yard while the sun sets behind the pines and the grass still holds its stripes — that is the good part of the day.
