About Rockfish Lawns

In March the yards around Rockfish turn over almost overnight — dull straw one week, then a green so new it looks lit from underneath. Rockfish Lawns starts the season right there, with the first mow, the beds cut back, and a winter's worth of leaves and limbs carried off. From then through October it is a steady rhythm of mowing, edging and trimming, keeping ahead of grass that wants to run. Yards here sit under pines and open sky both, and each one needs a slightly different height to hold. Watching a lawn come back from dormant to deep green, and then keeping it there, is most of the pleasure of the job.
