Philip's Lawn Care

About Philip's Lawn Care

A weekly route is a kind of memory. Philip's Lawn Care knows which Roanoke Rapids yard has the stubborn slope, which one hides a sprinkler head near the walk, which one the dog watches from the window every single visit. The work itself is plain — mow, edge, trim, blow the walk clean — but done in the same order on the same day it turns into something a whole street can set its week by. Late in the afternoon the light comes in low and sideways here, and the fresh cut lines on a lawn stand up in it like corduroy. Philip's Lawn Care finishes the round, looks back once down the block, and calls that a good Saturday.
