About Turf Works NC

Raleigh summers keep their own clock: still and glaring until about four, when the thunderheads stack up west of the city and blow through in twenty loud minutes, and afterward every blade of grass grows an inch out of sheer enthusiasm. Turf Works NC plans the week around that hour, running the long east-side blocks out toward the Neuse River Greenway while the sky is holding. The work is mowing and edging, trimming around mailboxes and fence posts, fertilization and weed control, aeration and overseeding, and clearing the clippings and needles that drift down from the loblollies onto everything below. There is something worth standing back for in the last pass of the day — the yard striped even, the curb line sharp, cut grass and wet asphalt on the air. By the time the light goes long and gold across Wake County, another street on the route looks looked-after.
