About S & S Tree Services & Equipment Co

Late-summer afternoons in Raeford come down heavy and still, with the shade of a street oak worth crossing the road for. S & S Tree Services & Equipment Co keeps that shade in good order — pruning out deadwood, trimming limbs away from wires and gutters, opening a crown so the wind can pass through it. Along Rockfish Creek and out on the county roads the trees grow big and close to the houses, and when one has to come down it comes down deliberately, roped and worked in stages, the ground beneath it left untouched. Storm damage cleanup carries its own urgency: a driveway blocked at midnight is a driveway cleared at first light, and then comes the slow part, loading and raking until the yard is clean. It is dusty, roaring work that ends in something orderly, which is a fair trade.
