About Dow Dirt Works

Sleet on a tin roof is the sound that opens the season here, once most winters and twice in a memorable one. Dow Dirt Works answers it before daylight, clearing farm lanes, driveways and shop aprons so vehicles and equipment can move on ground that has gone hard and bright. Sand goes down at the gates, along the crown of a lane, and anywhere the surface has stopped holding a tire. The flat country around Plain View freezes in sheets rather than piling up, so this work is as much about grip as it is about pushing snow. By the time the sun cuts through, the places people need are already open.
